Meet your instructors

Ashley Schmidt

After finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta, Ashley relocated to the west coast where she completed her Master of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of British Columbia. Ashley joined the Neil Squire Society in 2014 where she uses a client centered approach to enable individuals to be independent and successful in their vocational goals. Ashley assists her clients in their return to work process through the use of ergonomic tools, workplace modifications, and assistive technology solutions that are meaningful and engaging for the client. She has also gained experience providing services and supports for clients in rural and often remote areas throughout British Columbia. 

Nate Toevs

Nate lives in Langley with his beautiful wife Andrea and they have 2 boys, Josh 26 and Cameron 22… Nate has a long standing background in Retail, Wholesale and Business to Business sales and marketing activities. The Neil Squire Society for 33 years has worked with thousands of people in Canada that have physical disabilities and helping them overcome these barriers using assistive technologies. We primarily work with people that have restricted movements, chronic pain, low vision, hearing loss and many other challenges. Many of these barriers can be overcome with Assistive Technologies. Our Solutions division is a "Social Enterprise" that consists of 4 Occupational Therapists and 3 Assistive Technology Professionals. We work with some of BC’s best companies in helping to keep their employees healthy on the job, and if and when they become injured assisting to getting them back to work as soon as possible.Things you may not know about Nate...Jumped out of a perfectly good airplane….. twice… from 3500 feet…White water rafted a Class 4/ Class 5 river The Nahatlatch River in BC/ Shark Cage Diving in Gansbaai (pronounced Hans Bye) / Saw all 5 of the Big 5 on Safari in South Africa / Drove 18 laps in a stock car at Las Vegas Motor Speedway at a top speed of 132MPH
