Description:

29 percent of people in B.C. have at least one disability. Everyone benefits when employment is inclusive and when all people have access to opportunities. The Accessible BC Act (the Act) was introduced to support the identification, removal, and prevention of barriers. The Employment Accessibility Standard and Accessible Service Delivery Standard are the first standards to be developed under the Act.

Come along to this presentation to hear more about the work so far on these standards, what they mean for supporting inclusive employment and share your advice on being an accessible employer.

You will learn about:

  • the background of the Accessible BC Act and the work to date;
  • standards being developed to support the identification, removal, and prevention of barriers including the results of consultation;
  • next steps for the standards; and
  • resources to support you in your accessibility journey.

Who should attend:

Anyone responsible for recruitment, hiring, training and other employment related decisions in their workplace.
