WorkTango's Active Listening Strategy is a modern approach to employee feedback that goes beyond traditional, infrequent surveys. Instead of just "listening," it's about a continuous, structured process to collect, understand, and respond to what employees are saying. It creates a feedback loop where action is visible, and employees know their voices matter. 

The strategy emphasizes a continuous cycle, often referred to as a "flywheel," with three main phases: 

  • Ask: Capturing feedback from employees through various channels like engagement surveys, pulse checks, and lifecycle surveys (for new hires, stay interviews, and exit feedback). 
  • Aha: Analyzing the data to uncover "aha!" moments—prioritized areas for improvement—including both quantitative scores and the qualitative "why" behind them. 
  • Act: Taking what is learned to drive meaningful change. This is the most crucial step, as listening without action doesn't work.

Rob has spent the last 20 years building HR Technology and advisory companies with the lens of a business leader, but more importantly as a People leader. Rob was on the founding team at Achievers where he spent 10+ years growing the organization, and his passion for improving the employee experience led him to co-founding WorkTango in 2015. He was named one of the 100 Top Global Employee Engagement Influencers in 2024 and loves speaking with the HR community at events across the world and bringing them together with his own event series called InnovateWork. He is an avid hockey and volleyball player, traveler, used to play guitar in a metal band, and in his own terms a ‘pointaholic’ – he collects loyalty points for everything and anything!
